Where is the official site?
The park's official site is monkeypark.jp (Japanese), with an English page. If anything here differs from the official site, the official site is right.
How do we check the facts?
Prices, hours, closing days, directions and park rules on this site were checked against the official site on November 4, 2026. We update that date whenever we change a fact.
We don't copy reviews, and we only describe our own visits from what we have seen ourselves.
How do we know if the park is open today?
Every hour, we read the opening notice on the official site (in Japanese) and show what it says, with the time we checked. The park is always closed on January 1.
The official notice may not be updated the moment the park closes, so we always say that the status comes from the official site. If we can't read the notice, we say so instead of showing an old result.
Before 9:00 we show "Opens at 9:00 today", and from 16:00 "Entry has ended for today".
How is the crowd score estimated?
The crowd score is an estimate, not a live count. It does not use phone location data or ticket sales.
- Each hour starts from a typical value for an ordinary weekday, on a scale of 0 to 100.
- Saturdays, Sundays and Japanese public holidays are 10% higher.
- November 10 to December 5 and March 25 to April 10 are 30% higher. October 15 to November 9 and March 15 to March 24 are 10% higher.
- Any hour with at least 1 mm of rain, or a 60% or higher chance of rain, is 20% lower.
- The score is capped at 100. We don't show a score outside opening hours or when the park is closed.

The shape of the typical day follows the busy-times charts for the entrance and the summit on Google Maps: quietest around opening time, busiest from about 12:00 to 14:00. Real crowds on the day can be very different. All times are Japan time.
Where does the weather come from?
From the Japan Meteorological Agency: the forecast for southern Kyoto Prefecture and the latest observation at the Kyoto weather station. We fetch it every hour. If a fetch fails, the page says when the weather was last updated.
Whose live camera is it?
We link to a live stream on YouTube. We don't host, embed or record any footage.
How does the site make money?
Links to Bag2Gate go to our own service. We don't sell tickets and we don't use affiliate links.
How do I contact you?
